We've been living on the land here about a year now (just shy of our anniversary of it - will have to look up the exact date). As some of you know, the trailer we moved in burned down on Halloween (as opposed to Samhain) last year.

After that we moved into a miniscule camper-top. It's about 8 ft wide and maybe twice that long. Talk about cramped space!

Well yesterday we finally got our new home delivered. It's a 28 ft motor home with a blown motor that we picked up for super cheap.

I spent a few hrs cleaning it out yesterday and this morning, and right now my hubby is in there figuring out how to route the wires for the generator, the tv and the internet, and closing off the 2 cubbys that might be dangerous for the cats. Any decent luck, we move in tonight!

Sure, there's still no running water, electric (other than the generator) and the holding tank for the toilet hasn't yet been checked out. But it's (comparatively) so roomy!

Zen (our male pit) loves it and actually enters it willingly. He doesn't like to come into the one we're living in now. Maybe because he feels confined. But at least for now he's happy to hang out with me and sit on the couch while I clean.

Thrilled, thrilled, thrilled. Okay it's not the hobbit house that we eventually plan building on the land, but for now...YAY!

Me too!

Today we're starting to talk about mushroom growing on a small commercial level. Its something we've discussed in the past, and looks quite feasible.

Mmmmm mushrooms!

I'm very happy for you! Mushrooms need a lot of moisture though, right? I heard they grow really well in Denver, so it may work.

We can make the moisture thing happen - first challenge is to make an indoor space for it.

I got the idea when I noticed mushrooms growing in my garden - probably not edible ones.

I am very happy for you. I remember touching a little on the subject when we "Aim" chatted. I think it's super smart what you have done, especially during these times here in America. Sustainable living and owning you're own land, organic farming etc., is the way to go. Most likely from the way things are starting to look, a lot of people are going to want to be doing this soon, if not already. I'm sure it's hard, you have a lot of hard work cut out for you, but living close to nature on you're own land "is de bomb!!"
